The Pipe
Poly-B (polybutylene) pipe was being installed in Calgary from the late 1970's thru the mid 1990's. It should be replaced because it's prone to failure and can lead to expensive water damage.
The material degrades over time when exposed to common water disinfectants, such as chlorine, making it susceptible to cracking and leaking.
What is involved?
The idea of replacing all the waterlines in your home can seem overwhelming. In reality, the process is straightforward and switching out the Poly-B pipe can often be finished in one day.
We start with what we can see. Then we can decide where any holes need to be cut in the drywall so that we can access the pipe.
With access to the pipe, we can now switch it out, from the water meter to the faucet. Most of the time the house is fully functional the same day.
After that, patching the few holes in the drywall is a simple process.
